So, before we dive it to the steps of the application, let me just explain what this visa is and who is it for. Visitor Visa is the visa you need to obtain to come to the UK for tourism, visiting family, short-term study, transit, attending business or events and to visit for medical reasons. You can usually stay in the UK for up to 6 months or you can apply longer under certain circumstances. This visa, however, doesn’t allow you to claim public funds and to do paid or unpaid work. Once you have decided which subcategory you need to get, you are now ready to start your application.

STEP 1. Fill up and pay the application form online.

The form has 6 parts but don’t worry if you cannot finish it in one go. You can save your details and come back to it later.

  1. START – Registering an email and creating a password. 
  2. APPLICATION – this is the part where you have to input many personal details and basic information to support your application. It might look tedious especially if it’s your first time to apply for a visa going abroad. Patience is the KEY. You need to make sure that every detail you are going to put is accurate. I suggest you triple check everything and take a break if it gets a bit too much. Quick run-down of the information needed for this part are:

3. DOCUMENTS – after providing all the information provided in Step 1, the system will then generate a document checklist for you.

4. DECLARATIONS – This refers to the series of questions regarding any criminal, civil or immigrations offences you might have committed.

5. PAY – After successfully filling up the online application form, you will be directed to VFS Global website to book your appointment. VFS is a commercial company working with UK Visas and Immigration. There are 2 VFS Offices in the Philippines, so make sure you book the right place for you. This is where you go to submit your documents and provide your biometric data.

6. FURTHER ACTIONS – this section serves as a reminder of the things you have to do to complete the application process after you submit the form i.e. downloading and printing the document checklist etc.

STEP 2. Gather your documents.

You will have until the biometric appointment to collate all your requirements. Make sure to provide everything that is written down in the document checklist provided in Step 1. There are 2 ways to submit your documents, you can either self-upload them on the VFS Website or bring them with you on your biometric appointment.

  1. Document Scanning Assistance – PHP 1,110. Scanning of your documents if you didn’t have the chance to scan and upload them prior to your biometric appointment.
  2. Courier Service – PHP 794. VFS will send you passport back safely and directly to your home or work place.
  3. SMS – PHP 227. Purchasing this service will allow you to receive updates regarding your application on your mobile phone.
  4. Walk – In without appointment – PHP 4840. This will allow you to submit your application without appointment. Suitable for those who missed their slot or arrived late on their pre-booked appointment.
